ORIOLES ACQUIRE THREE PITCHERS FROM THE NEW YORK YANKEES IN EXCHANGE FOR LHP ZACH BRITTON
The Orioles have acquired RHP DILLON TATE, LHP JOSH ROGERS, and RHP CODY CARROLL from the New York Yankees in exchange for LHP ZACH BRITTON.
Tate has been assigned to Double-A Bowie, while Rogers and Carroll have been assigned to Triple-A Norfolk.
Tate, 24, went 5-2 with a 3.38 ERA (31 ER/82.2 IP) and 75 strikeouts in 15 starts for Double-A Trenton this season. Over 58 career minor league games (50 starts), he has gone 16-7 with a 3.53 ERA (101 ER/257.1 IP) and 216 strikeouts against 85 walks. His 3.38 ERA this season ranks eighth-lowest in the Eastern League, while his 1.11 WHIP ranks fifth-best.
Rogers, 24, spent the entire season with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, pitching to a record of 6-8 with a 3.95 ERA (48 ER/109.1 IP) and 83 strikeouts across 19 starts. He is currently tied for fourth in the International League in innings pitched. For his career, Rogers has gone 28-19 with a 3.16 ERA (123 ER/350.2 IP) and 294 strikeouts in 63 minor league games (58 starts).
Carroll, 25, went 3-0 with nine saves, a 2.38 ERA (11 ER/41.2 IP) and 55 strikeouts in 32 relief appearances for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. He has not allowed a home run in 171 batters faced this season, and has limited opponents to a .184 batting average (27-for-147).
