MCU can produce a Logan or Dark Knight if they are willing to abandon their MCU formula for 1 film. Make a solo movie about Tony Stark (assuming he doesn't die in IW2). Make it a grounded, personal story of his internal struggles without holding back like they did in IM3. Give importance to his relationship with Pepper and the hardships he faces. Throw in a story arc similar to the one they did in Godfather 2 where Kay is reluctant to have Michaels son because of his role in the mafia. If they hadnt wasted the Mandarin, maybe have him trek to China to find inner peace but then encounters the Mandarin. The groundwork is all there. Hes a famous bilionaire philanthropist but is deep down insecure and ultimately only has Pepper as emotional support. Forget all the big CGI fights, the quirky overloaded humour and typical MCU tropes. Have it drama driven. Tonys always saying how the suit does not make the man but the man makes the suit, yet weve never really seen any evidence of it. Maybe at the end of this solo movie instead of a typical big city boss fight, let it conclude with some justification for his own claim. But you're essentially trading one basic formula for another; being dark and gritty and grounded and depressing (depending on how dark you go). Why should they do that? Since when do superhero films have to do that to be amazing?
