Lois Duncan's daughter Katie was found shot to death in her Car. Duncan passed away not getting closure. She wrote a book about it called "Who killed my daughter?"
The novel was written in the 1970's & set in the Desert. So no Fisherman or Hook. Elsa was an overweight frumpy character jealous of newscaster Helen. Etc. The Teens accidentally run over a kid on a Bike. It's more of a suspense mystery and was never meant to be a slasher. Lois hated the movie.
