Watching the movie many years later, without the heavy burden, I liked it.
I got to watch it with no political information or background at all and LOVED it. Those were the days ! Like you Bat, I watched it on tv when I was young and was completely unaware of the political context. I posted here about 'Invasion Of The Body Snatchers' (1956) recently and had much the same experience watching that one as a kid. Today, I still enjoy them first and foremost as a good western and a good sci-fi horror but I also find the political readings very interesting. |
