Excellent example posted here of the power of film editing -- a 2-minute summation of the previous events showing the people and the places (marshal's office, saloon, church, street, depot) of Hadleyville.
That clip provides a perfect illustration, thanks. I wanted to post here about three westerns I felt advanced editing techniques and chose 'Stagecoach' (1939), 'Butch Cassidy And The Sundance Kid' (1969) and 'High Noon'. Easy to see why Sergio Leone would like 'High Noon' from that clip alone.
