Talk here is that Rogers would not want to set precedent just because of the quality of the player.  If he was Roberto Osuna g/f beater with 1-3 season record, 4 saves, & a 6.79 e.r.a. he'd be gone without even a blip.  
That's the key point - 75 games, no appeal.  Ppl think there's real evidence which cannot be undone.

The only other option was to play him at Buffalo for the rest of 2018 & hope by next March the story was well enough in the rear view.
