It is my Opinion, that 2001 is a bit too cryptic... and so I can't label it as one of the best movies every made, and therefor it isn't a "masterpiece"... I actually prefer the sequel, 2010...
But, I will agree the special effects for 2001 were incredible!
Even with it's flaws, it is better than many other films.
And so, I can understand why so many people think 2001 is one of the best films every made...
For anyone who doesn't like the movie, I think calling it "Pretentious Garbage" is too harsh... The movie isn't "overrated". Your opinion "underrates" the movie... And there is nothing wrong with that, because, I can understand why you don't like the film!
