Have you ever been to the Los Angeles Natural History Museum? They have multiple rooms dedicated to minerals and gems with some amazing specimens. After going through it, I realized I didn't know much about them. I haven’t been the LA Natural History Museum since I was a little kid. I’ll have hit it up next time I’m in LA. I majored in geology at school and briefly worked as an exploration geologist for a gold company in Nevada. Nowadays I’m a geo-engineer working on construction projects. It’s good work, but it lacks emphasis on mineralogy that disciplines of geology possess. Nothing quite like finding a cool crystal/gemstone from the ground. soooo...........in layman's terms you're the 'helper' digging trenches outside of the excavator - the guy with the shovel in the yellow hard hat and fluorescent vest. Dig here!
