Probably my favorite period for film, a lot of these would make my Top 20 regardless of decade or language. Tried to order them, but gave up and listed them chronologically. A little too heavy on Japanese films perhaps:
L’Avventura (Italy, 1960) La Dolce Vita (Italy, 1960) When A Woman Ascends the Stairs (Japan, 1960) The Human Condition III: A Soldier’s Prayer (Japan, 1961) Last Year in Marienbad (France, 1961) Through A Glass Darkly (Sweden, 1961) An Autumn Afternoon (Japan, 1962) Vivre sa Vie (France, 1962) An Actors’ Revenge (Japan, 1963) Kwaidan (Japan, 1964) Onibaba (Japan, 1964) The Red Desert (Italy, 1964) Woman in the Dunes (Japan, 1964) Andrei Rublev (Russia, 1966) Balthazar (France, 1966) The Face of Another (Japan, 1966) Persona (Sweden, 1966) Marketa Lazarova (Czechoslovakia, 1967) The Bride Wore Black (France, 1968) Eros + Massacre (Japan, 1969)
