I think he is terrible in The Force Awakens, but pretty good in TLJ. There is a dark humor to the way he plays it in the latter and he just became better at selling it in the that movie. He is now typecast a lot as very uptight and unlikable characters, which is too bad. I hated him in TFA as well but pinned it on the writing. But yeah, Hux is way better in TLJ. It seemed like everyone realized the character sucked so they had him play it as self-parody. That sucks. Like I said, in everything else I've seen him in he's a boyscout whuch makes his SW character kinda jarring. It felt like half that movie was self parody which is actually why I enjoyed it. I was getting a twisted delight knowing that most fans of TFA would likely hate the movie.
