And any other general advice of stuff to see and do in Cairns, Ayers Rock, or Sydney?
Sydney is a truly beautiful city, and the only bad thing about being in Sydney in August is that it’s quite cool by Australian standards so the beach is off limits. The best thing to do in Sydney is catch a ferry around the harbour. The best views of the Bridge, Opera House and everything else is on a ferry. I could just walk around the city all day, and find interesting things from convict history right through to modern Australia. The majority of people are friendly and are happy to help.
As for the football, head to a pub. Anywhere. You’ll find what you are after. But, don’t give up hope of securing a ticket if nose bleed seats don’t bother you. The stadium holds 80,000+ and it rarely sells out fully.
Cool, thanks for the info. I'm gonna be hopping around, but the most of the down time will be in Sydney, and if I have some time and can convince the wife I'll totally be looking into tickets for that game. Tickets as of now seem to be really reasonable, actually.
We are taking a long bus tour in Sydney the first day which I hope will give us a sense of the layout and inform us what we wanna see again in the following days, that also includes an opera house tour, and then a wildlife tour at the 'Blue Mountains.' And I'll definitely be looking into a ferry tour too, that sounds great. If you know anything about Aukland I'll listen to you on that as well.
And I love just walking around a new city and exploring on my own. I love finding some restaurant or pub just walking down the street. Really looking forward to it. That said, if you have any food recommendations, I'm all ears.
Also, I hear you guys have a great coffee culture down there, which I'm anticipating. What about boozin? Other than Fosters we don't get much in the way of Aussie beer up here, but I'm sure there's a ton of good stuff. And I understand there's a somewhat newer whiskey industry emerging too.
Anyway, thanks for the advice. I'll definitely be looking into to some of that stuff.
