masterofallgoonsCoffee Culture : Extremely good coffee is EVERYWHERE in Sydney and Melbourne. So much so, that Starbucks hasn’t been able to crack the market because many locals view their products as inferior. In the ‘trendier’ areas of suburban Sydney and Melbourne there are now specialty Greek and Turkish coffee shops compared to simply just Italian style espresso. Bus Tours - the general gist I get from these is that they tend to not tell you anything about anything. The Blue Mountains are a good 2 hours from the CBD. Some of the lanscapes are simply stunning. If that’s your thing, Sydney is truly blessed. The city is ringed on 3 sides by national parks and bush walking/hiking of all types and standards are everywhere. Beer - Australia is very similar to the USA when it comes to beer. The plebs drink swill. But there is plenty of craft stuff around everywhere which is fantastic. If you can find Fosters, you are doing well. No locals drink it....
