Singer could have been busted in 2014 around DOFP but DOFP was such a darm great movie that not only did it destroy winter solider but it made people forget the accusation for the director.
First, there were rumors circling around him for years, and when somebody's story broke in the media Singer was no longer allowed to do press for DOFP and his executive produced primetime drama Black Box eliminated his name from any and all promotions going forward. Second, DOFP did not in any way make people forget about the accusation, and when it resurfaced last fall it was decided that Singer would not be credited for either The Gifted or Legion or any other X-Men related product going forward in whatever role he served.
