Mike, if I'm correct, it was William "Stage" Boyd who was busted for bootlegging. It's been a long time since I saw the silent version of THE TEN COMMANDMENTS. What part did Bill Boyd play? I know Theodore Roberts was Moses. Yes, it was "Stage" Boyd who inadvertently ruined the career of the future Hoppy. "Stage" died in 1935, the same year his namesake became Hopalong Cassidy. I think I may have misspoke. It seems that Boyd appeared in "Kings Of Kings" (1927). I also saw The Ten Commandments (1923) years and years ago. What I remember was that the Biblical story was framed by a modern story and that Boyd had been a part of that. I recall a train wreck causing a dream or hallucination about the Exodus. When the main character in the modern story wakes up, he is a changed man because of his vision and goes about doing good things. Of course, that may be all wrong, too. Still, what I wrote about Boyd being in that film came from that research I did back in the early days of the previous message boards. I wonder what source that mis-information originated from.
