I do think some directors need to be kept in check and not let their ego run amok. You don't want too much self-indulgence. That's exactly what happened with Heaven's Gate; a director run amok with a blank check. As a result, producers were back in charge. Ishtar as well... Although I like that film. I also wonder how much of the studio interference is due to Chinese investments. |
