Honestly, I seriously doubt James Bond is the same character as he was in the original movies and much like M and Q which have new people take over the names when one dies or retires I think James Bond is just a code name different people use in the movies so I see no problem having Idris Elba playing the role. Is there any proof he is the same character apart from them acknowledging he had a Wife that was murdered which in his profession wouldn't be that uncommon? The personality changes are all over the place and Daniel Craig's James Bond is nothing like Roger Moore or Pierce Bronson's Bonds for example that were more outspoken, charismatic and were at times comedic too. Daniel Craig's Bond comes across as somebody who has an antisocial personality disorder and is wooden as a stick.
