DVD extra/commentaries often help me choose whether to get the DVD or Blu-ray versions of a movie or TV series. Sometimes the DVD version has nothing (or a very limited amount) of stuff on it, while the Blu-ray version has a lot more stuff. Of course, oftentimes the Blu-rays cost a bit more than the DVDs - so it becomes a decision between whether I think the extras on the Blu-ray version make it worth paying a little extra or not.
Then again, in some cases here, the DVD and Blu-ray versions of the same thing have had the exact same amount of stuff on them and have been the same price (in that case, I go for the Blu-ray version).
The most annoying thing is when both the DVD and Blu-ray versions of things have no extras whatsoever, when it's pretty clear there's loads of stuff they could've included (which can be found on YouTube and such).
The worst thing, though, was how certain shows/movies that got released here were clearly having certain extras removed from them. One example I can think of had the extras listed on the back of the DVD, including a commentary...but it was nowhere to be found on any of the discs. Why anyone would go to the trouble of removing certain extras/commentaries from the DVDs that were released here I'll never know.
