I will admit that while the movie isn’t exactly what I would consider good, it does have a certain charm to it. It’s a silly movie, but it’s entertainingly silly, and Luke Evans and Charles Dance are both pretty fun in their respective roles. Frankly, if Universal was really so insistent on pushing for a shared monster universe, they would’ve been better off sticking with DU as the launching point, rather than that mummy movie with Tom Cruise that actually fared even worse with critics. Ah yes. The one where Vlad is a kind family man. Its shockingly entertaining. And I mean that seriously. It's better than it has any right to be. Pretty much sums up my thoughts on it. I think Canadian actress Sarah Gadon is a goddess! I like Sarah Gadon as an actress too. Personally, I didn't think it was horrible and I did enjoy parts of it but my biggest problem with it was it didn't do enough to really set up Dracula as the villain we all know him to be and I am not sure if that was 'cause there were plans for a sequel that would have seen the character going down a darker path but at the end of the movie he looked more like an Anti-hero than a soulless monster and I was expecting him to be more evil and sadistic at the end.
