The Emperor's Royal Guards hanging out with Vader still annoys the hell of me. I know, I know, I guess it shouldn't but it does. Of all the "inconsistencies" that people whine about with this film, this is the only one that really bothers me. Those guards shouldn't be there. Overall, it was a pleasant surprise. I highly recommend reading the book Catalyst and the novelization of this film as well. It's a cool addition to the lore. Yeah, even in Episode 1 when Palpatine's guards are blue, they still only go where he goes. It's shown that way throughout the franchise for a reason. Even the old toys from way back when referred to them as, "The Emperor's Royal Guards." They don't hang out with Vader or Tarkin or anyone else. Here's the evidence from Episode 1.
