"People complaining about the dramatic presentation of real events"
No 'real events' were depicted. It was literally all made up by Disney to present a racial morality tale that in fact, never happened. My personal recollection has nothing to do with it.
The school was already integrated - the protests over black kids attending the school never happened. ALL the schools they played were already integrated. - there was no big speech about "other schools not having our problem". There was no racist coach who tossed a banana to Boone - it never happened. Two big high schools were combined, which resulted in some tension over competition for spots on the teams and a popular coach being replaced and they knew combining two large high schools would create a sports powerhouse, it had nothing to do with overcoming racism. There was no big speech in the Civil War graveyard about unity - it never happened. That's just off the top of my head. At what point does it no longer represent a "fact based" tale?
There are about ten thousand other made-up points, but I'm not going to bother looking them up. And what would be the point? You're just going to carry on believing your little fantasy world regardless.
