to me its not about the level of intelligence, but how they treat others.
using some fictional characters as models so hang with me...
doogie howser would be just an asshole if he wasn't brought up with compassion and the 'fifties upbringing' I call it. Dorothy zbornak and jr ewing were assholes because they were barely compassionate. [jr only redeemed himself in the latter half of the last season of DALLAS -- 13.5 YEARS TO GET THERE!]
Real life: my male ap is a complete asshole because he is not only very bright but will only think you are bright if you tell him HE'S BRIGHT. he is a complete douchebag, no one likes him but he doesn't see that reality, he views himself as a viable asset to the teaching profession. albert Einstein developed the atomic bomb and he was brought up with a sense of humanity and he warned fdr to use this very wisely. not many geniuses truly realize the power that their inventions/whatnot may bring. and when the shit hits the fan they shrug their shoulders and smirk like my douchebag ap.
its not good to be too bright... with that comes the risk of Asperger's [which I think most of those diagnosed are just assholes because they are rude, cruel pricks.] you also get the psychotic side of genius. keep in mind that columbine didn't happen because they were bullied... columbine happened those boys had enough brain power to THINK of fire bombs to divert fire fighters, bombes made from propane tanks, and many, many other bombs not to mention their smorgasbord of guns... sure if they weren't bullied they would not have the need to go to that extreme but if they had any sort of compassionate upbringing, they would have dealt with the bullies not just go off on the entire school.
