How it's impossible to recast purely cinematic icons

Nah I think actors can make a role their own. Case in point is Ledgers Joker. People might not remember now but before TDK came out there was a LOT of skepticism about how well Ledger (Brokeback Mountain, 10 Things I Hate About You, etc) was gonna be able to portray a convincing Joker. Add to that his movie look was very different from classic Joker makeup so he barely looked like the character everyone knew and loved and he’s following Nicholson’s portrayal which was mostly well received.

But he owned it and pretty much set the bar for comic book villains.
