Eh, that is not necessarily true. That might be true if everyone considered animals as having equal value as human beings, but we know that isn't the case for many people.
I am a little sickened by all the violent remarks in this thread. It's not enough that I have to read about someone torturing a kitty, but then I also have to read a bunch of violent comments too.
