American actress, singer, and dancer in mostly musicals, and later a popular night club and cabaret artist.

Her family first moved to Elgin, Illinois, then to Detroit, and later when she was eleven, on to Hollywood. She trained as a ballerina as a child and began her career as a chorus dancer.
At 13, she was singing and dancing with the Los Angeles Civic Light Opera company.
She signed a seven-year contract with Twentieth Century-Fox at age 17.
Gaynor made her film debut in a musical,

After her movie career she became a popular Night Club and Cabaret entertainer. In the late 1960's and during the 1970's she stared in some very popular TV-specials, first on NBC and later on CBS.
During the 1990s, Gaynor also became a featured columnist for the influential newsmagazine The Hollywood Reporter.
Mitzi Gaynor acted in 19 movies.
Since 1960 she has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
