Well, it's not one of Van Sant's best movies maybe, but it's nice. Drugstore Cowboy is my favourite of his, I think.

I prefer the original Thomas Crown movie to the remake.

Possibly. He plays bank robbers in both, even if with a different style.

The Getaway is the one where he plays an ex con out on parole forced to rob banks by his crooked parole officer.
