There is now way around this. Those that claim to be animal lovers and eat animal flesh foods are not being entirely genuine in their belief system. It is pure hypocrisy and selective reasoning. Nothing can be absolute and anomalies will always crop up somewhere, but I just don't feel a greater effort is getting made. I'm being absolutely genuine in my belief system. I love my pets so much it hurts. And I love me some fried chicken and grilled steak and a nice juicy hamburger too.
For me its like this: I don't eat pets. I eat animals that were farmed. Farmed animals are animals that were raised specifically to be slaughter. I don't eat dog, I don't eat cat, I don't eat goldfish, I don't eat parrot, I don't eat tarantula, I don't eat lizard, I'm hard pressed to think of any animal I would eat that I could buy at a pet store or adopt at a shelter. Even a zoo for that matter. Most of the animal world is safe from appetite.
It's your right to say I'm being a hypocrite, and I even acknowledge that there's some of that at work. I don't deny it completely. But the notion that I cant do both, love a pet and eat animal meat, is nonsense. I've been doing it all my life, and MOST of us have been doing it ALL our lives.
Perhaps then you could love even more, if you stop eating animals that are bred just for food. There are plenty of other alternatives around. Love is a still state of being and that includes extending to all that is living. Plants are living, but they operate at a different vibrational level, fruit and veges ripen and naturally decay quickly and can be replanted for regrowth. Animals are slaughtered and they have a life force that is instinctual but also aware. It's about respect for that life force.
