Looking for hard to find movies is a fun challenge. Over the years, it took effort for me to find the following though some have been released on video since then.
Bastard Out of Carolina (1996)
Profumo di donna (1974) The Story of Temple Drake (1933) The White Rose (1982)
Syskonbädd 1782 (1966) The Pied Piper (1942) La traviata (1982) Raise the Titanic (1980)
Winslow Boy (1948) Chicago (1927)
La passion Beatrice (1987) Little Dorrit (1987)
The Constant Nymph (1943) The Bitter Tea of General Yen (1932)
Red Dust (1932) Alice in Wonderland: An X-Rated Musical Fantasy (1976)
These I found but haven't watched yet since they are extremely long:
La Révolution française (1989) Shoah (1985) Out 1 (1971)
Yes - and the internet has really helped
Funny how accessibility dependent on ones location - not sure where you based (I'm in London UK) -I had YEN and RED DUST on VHS and now on R2 dvd - and found TEMPLE DRAKE and CONSTANT NYMPH easily WINSLOW BOY was (is?) heavily televised. I hope you enjoyed RAISE THE TITANIC more than I did which I saw in early 80s the video era.
the old imdb boards on individual stars, films, directors etc were a godsend to anyone trying to locate obscure stuff. For years my most wanted was BIRDS IN PERU - I eventually coughed up £50 or so for a professional dealer to jointly purchase a copy (he sent three copies) ... now you can find it free on youtube!
I think a respected poster on imdb1 listed OUT1 as his fave movie... can't recall who though.
Nice thread BTW
When CFB did the 1971 poll, everyone who saw OUT 1 ranked it #1. Maybe 5 or 6 of them.
The internet does help increase film knowledge exponentially. I wouldn't know most of the film I wanted without the information from internet. I am from NY. Lots of movies for one reason or another do not have DVD released in the States. I ordered the UK set of Little Dorrit just to have it. Most of the movies I found were not even found on YouTube.
Btw, your list, I don't know any of them. I take it that you more curious about than to think they might be good, since that is my usual motive in finding my movies. Otherwise Raise The Titanic would not be on the list. I did enjoy it despite its expected silliness. I don't mind watch it again for guilt pleasure though
