The Oscars contains votes from 7000+ academy members who are all involved with the movie business. To say their collective opinion is worth the same as ''Hobo Jim'' is ludicrous and dishonest. You might not agree with what wins Best Picture, but a majority consensus from experts within the field does not equate to nothing of any merit.

And I am glad this award is being scrapped. Black Panther is no where near good enough to be even held in the same breath as other Oscar film calibre nominations.

I don't think the category should've been created. I understand why they wanted to with the massive ratings drops especially in their prime demographic. I don't think Black Panther should be nominated for best picture. I don't really care one way or the other to be honest. I have my opinion on the movie and that's what counts.

And no I don't think their Collective Opinion is any better or worse than "hobo jims." Just because someone works in an industry it doesn't mean their individual or collective opinion on art is better or worse than any others. Now if they work in an industry and they are grading objective matter then yes their input would be important. This is not the case. 7 billion people on the planet could say Howard the Duck is a bad movie. 1 person could say it was a good movie. That 1 person's opinion is no less or more valuable than the other 7 billion.
