Billy Zane's character was actually a decent guy to begin with? Rose's decision to abandon him in favor of dirt poor Jack doesn't seem an especially difficult one given he's consistently unbearable. Maybe give us the sequel where Cal raises that kid who helped him get off the ship until the stock market crash in 1929.
