I feel like your second statement might be something of an exaggeration. I personally do not hear someone use that expression every day in person, or on TV. So, it might come down to exactly who you are hanging out with every day, and what their tendencies are, and what you choose to watch on television. Having said that, I tend to agree with your overall point. Someone saying ANYTHING over and over again is annoying as it is indicative of a lack of vocabulary, and a limited way of expressing themselves. I agree. As an Athiest, I would not expect you to be insulted or offended by the constant exclamation of, "Oh my God !!!" But although it is annoying, I think you make a good point by saying it shows a lack of vocabulary or, of ways to express oneself. To me someone who says the same thing over and over again (especially if it's an exclamation that they aren't using for emphasis, but just as a filler word) because they can't think of anything else to say in its place probably has a low IQ, or at the very least is poor at communicating their thoughts. |
