Fwict, the SNDP is not a major influencer in the Malabar region and I don't think Ezhavas are generally relied on as a vote bank as much some other groups/religions. However, Travancore is clearly getting progressively saffronized and the support for BJP has always been there with the Nair and similar castes, especially in families where they send the kids to the shakhas. If Ezhavas collectively vote BJP then yeah, they could sweep Kerala which might turn out to be disastrous especially for Malabar. I am holding on to the hope that with loyalties split between Congress, Communists and a lot of swing votes, this does not actually become a reality.
Heard a couple of journalists in a train some years back, talking about how the support for BJP/RSS will keep growing each year with the kids being fed the hero worship of Modi and the so-called "nationalistic" ideologies even across religions reaching voting age.
