Fwict, the SNDP is not a major influencer in the Malabar region and I don't think Ezhavas are generally relied on as a vote bank as much some other groups/religions. However, Travancore is clearly getting progressively saffronized and the support for BJP has always been there with the Nair and similar castes, especially in families where they send the kids to the shakhas. If Ezhavas collectively vote BJP then yeah, they could sweep Kerala which might turn out to be disastrous especially for Malabar. I am holding on to the hope that with loyalties split between Congress, Communists and a lot of swing votes, this does not actually become a reality. Heard a couple of journalists in a train some years back, talking about how the support for BJP/RSS will keep growing each year with the kids being fed the hero worship of Modi and the so-called "nationalistic" ideologies even across religions reaching voting age. It wont be disastrous it would be better for Kerala's future. I think a future coilition called maybe the NDF(National Democratic Front) led by the BJP would emerge. Possibly an up and coming Muslim party and Kerala Congress Mani will join it with support of SNDP and NSS. Your wrong about Malabar. The Kasargod area has the densest Shaka network in Kerala. Its the only place in Kerala where BJP workers have muscle power to take on CPM Nair vote wont be enough and Ezhavas are the most numerically dominant Hindu group. Only when they come into the base will it win. Pimp Assam and Bengal are also states where demographics dont work for it yet BJP has done well there recently. So will it in Kerala. GSW, where do you get all this information from? have you conducted research on the ground? or did you read all this somewhere?
