It looks a bit superficial to me from the trailer, where as Lynch— I am not referring to his films after Mulholland Drive because I haven't seen them—still had his own stamp of originality, weirdness, depth, substance and I found them compelling. I don't mind longish slower films if the dialog is interesting. Did you find the dialog in Mandy fascinating or was it just superfluous and shallow? no I did not. Thats where Lynch is suoerior for sure. The dialogues were pretentious, in my eyes the weakest part of the movie. But - I still liked it a lot overall, because of some honestly brilliant scenes later in the movie where there is much kess talking and more chainsaw battles :-) You have just confirmed my suspicions Nora. I don't think I will bother. Dialog, as in many Lynch, Allen, Tarantino films, has to reflect in the substance\style of the film in order for it to reach intelligent and clever peaks of irony and depth. It has to engage and be clever and while I don't expect this from every film, I usually expect a little bit more from films that are attempting to divert from the typical mainstream formula. It looks like it could be fun and interesting, but also look a bit self-indulgent at the same time.
