The article is right in that MCU didn't decide they would take risks and make just make movies with lesser-known characters, as many delusional MCU fans have always claimed. MCU had no choice because they sold off all of their A-list characters. If MCU had the rights to Spider-Man and the X-Men and Fantastic Four, there would've never been any Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Ant-Man, Doctor Strange, Avengers, or GotG movies. MCU would've been just Spider-Man, Hulk, X-Men, and Fantastic Four.
But since MCU sold off all their A-list characters, they had no choice. So it wasn't MCU taking a risk and making movies with lesser-known characters by choice. It was MCU being forced to make movies with lesser-known characters out of desperation.
When disney bought marvel they tried to push spiderman and xmen aside and it did not work. Infact marvel comics collapsed. For a while, they tried to make iron man the face of marvel, their answer to Batman but spiderman always came back strong, his legacy endured, iron man could not have any impact anywhere else and his movies got worse which did not help it. In the end, Spidey WON. he is still the face of marvel. THEIR MOST IMPORTANT CHARACTER. iron man is busy begging to join his new game that is very anti mcu in content and more like his true peer. Batman lol
Disney also did the same with xmen and they did worse to the point they once tried to make inhumans the new xmen , but as you see Inhumans could not even take down the D- list mutants on a show like Gifted.LOL. Infact Inhumans suffered for trying to be xmen. Also they stated stealing xmen characters and making them avengers, which failed, so people did not buy the twins retcon. they banned xmen from video games and even marvel posters, derailed their comics and stopped any merchandise with the word X and guess what.. xmen endured....not once did it hurt the series, instead it made people Laugh and always call out disney and it helped that xmen had movies like DOFP, Furst Class, LOGAN, Deadpool that were embarrassing all the mcu CHILDISH movies.
That is what you call true A-Listers. you can test their legacy, impact and longevity and they will remain unshaken. You cant do that with mcu characters meaning they cannot be a-listers. Batman is getting tested now, and he will come back STRONG. we know so as he has done before. see batman and robin and the TDK series. mcu characters are like those disney child stars. once the disney ride is over, they are over. to compare them to spiderman, xmen, superman, batman is laughable.we cant do that with mcu characters, meaning they are not a listers but disney by-products. When RDJ leaves....let's see who will give a shit about iron man. LOL.
You can make spin offs of xmen (xforce/new mutants) in movies with no disney MARVEL backing or even xmen titled and they will succeed, you can make spin off of Batman like Gotham with no actual batman and it will succeed. What can you do with iron man or gotg with no RDJ in a pixar movie in any medium even now in movies? MCU characters don't even have any mythology of their own.lol. A-Listers? LMAO. but as said, the Kardashian are A-Listers now,Kyle Jenner is billionaire. so I can call mcu a-listers on those terms too and it fits since the way the Kardashians embarrassed themselves is the same way mcu characters embarrasses comics.
