The article is right in that MCU didn't decide they would take risks and make just make movies with lesser-known characters, as many delusional MCU fans have always claimed. MCU had no choice because they sold off all of their A-list characters. If MCU had the rights to Spider-Man and the X-Men and Fantastic Four, there would've never been any Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Ant-Man, Doctor Strange, Avengers, or GotG movies. MCU would've been just Spider-Man, Hulk, X-Men, and Fantastic Four. But since MCU sold off all their A-list characters, they had no choice. So it wasn't MCU taking a risk and making movies with lesser-known characters by choice. It was MCU being forced to make movies with lesser-known characters out of desperation. Actually yes, making a multi-million dollar feature length motion picture about lesser-known superhero characters in pop culture and hoping to make as much profit as any other movie featuring A-liste superhero characters is a risk. Before 2008 few knew or cared about Iron Man, and Robert Downey, Jr. while a respected actor was not considered a particularly big enough draw for such a picture. And it paid off, VERY well. Now, Iron Man( And various others) is an A-list superhero on the same level as Spider-Man, Batman, and Superman and Downey, Jr. is one of the few movie stars working today that can sell a movie by just his presence alone.
