02. Corbin Bernson /Gerald R. Ford / The Commission This is a bizarre entry! I was one of about 35 people in the audience at AFI Fest when this film was debuted. Most were friends of the director or actors in the film. Corbin Bersen showed up with his son. Martin Landau showed up in a tux with a young blonde on his arm. Stephen Collins and Lloyd Bochner were sitting behind me, and Collins was throwing popcorn. Ed Asner and Joe Don Baker were also there. The film was about The Warren Commission investigating the assassination of JFK and used documented testimony to show how the outcome was skewed by the evidence they chose to view. The film was interesting, but the writer/director Mark Sobel had decided to have a new print made for the showing which was tinted yellow to show age. It was a horrible idea and he had not viewed the print. The entire second reel was out of sync and the voices were several seconds off. It was like that bit in SINGIN' IN THE RAIN. That reel last 30 very long minutes. My friend finally said he had enough and went out to the lobby, as the ArcLight was one of the few movie theaters where you can buy a Martini. As far as I know, the film was never released. Before IMDb destroyed the message board, there were messages back and forth between me and the filmmaker, but those are now history.
