It's unfortunate, that in the US, anime is still seen like how comics were a couple decades ago. That "it's just anime so the movies won't be all that good" genre. Hopefully GitS will turn that around like CBMs have in the last decade. I hope that we'll start getting some directors that say "We can make this like the manga/anime without making it look silly or overly grounded" like around 2000. Speed Racer is kinda in that Batman Forever realm.
