Was wondering what happened to her career. Why did she retire for six years? And is she still hot? It's an interesting story ... Alison Lohman was discovered by the great budget movie producer Charles Band. Her first role in a theatrical feature came with Aaron Osborne's creature feature 'Kraa : The Sea Monster' (1998) in which she played rookie space cadet Curtis, a creative psychic with illustrative powers. It was a loose follow-up to 'Zarkorr! The Invader' (1996). She then appeared in a key role as the Honeybear Girl in Josef Rusnak's hyper-stylised sci-fi noir 'The Thirteenth Floor' (1999) which was based on the story 'Simulacron 3' by Daniel Galouye. This film was co-produced by camera wizard Michael Ballhaus with Master Of Disaster Roland Emmerich. Over the years, she's acted in several tv series, but I've not seen any of them. Mostly, she became a low-rent fashion icon like Christina Ricci and Mena Suvari, and a great genre performer. She can also sing and dance, as the pop video she made for 'Delirious' illustrated ('Shove It' by Kharma Leeds). After a string of unusual roles for interesting directors, she left cinema to raise a baby (she married 'Gamer' director Mark Neveldine). So officially, she took time off to be a mother, but truth be told, she'd been really jaded with the media circus as she was never comfortable in interviews, which led people online to accuse her of being disinterested with her work. There's no doubt she'd appeared frazzled for some time. Yet it was just the media part she wasn't comfortable with, not the filmmaking process. Now she's back, including a role in Neveldine's latest crime picture 'Officer Downe'. And I guess only time will tell if she's really back to stay or if she's ready to return to her self-imposed exile ...
