I remember watching Addams Family & Munsters at a house we moved away from during my Kindergarten year so I had to be 4 or 5. I remember sitting in the car while my sister told me ghost stories while mom shopped.
So I have loved fantasy stuff as far back as I remember. The 60s were strange. Tv was full of westerns or fantasy-Batman, Man From UNCLE, Outer Limits, It's About Time, My Mother the Car(I was 5. It worked) Captain Nice. Mr. Terrific, Wild, Wild West...
I grew up in the Inland Empire in the 60s so we got all the LA. stations. Shrimpenstein was a favorite kid's show-

I took my kid to Nightmare Before Christmas several times in 1993. All of the parents of her little friends were horrified at the idea of the movie-no way they were taking their little darlings to see it.
Its far more popular now.
Back to the future made money, but it wasnt the "classic" then ot is now.
