Carmel is wrong. The word is spelled ca-ra-mel. Not car-mel.
Since when does a words spelling dictate how it's pronounced.
Since always. Educated people can read and figure out how to pronounce a word based on its spelling. Ignorant people can't read. Resultingly they mispronounce words showing their ignorance.
