I totally disagree.
Whilst the 9/11 event was disastrous to Americans with a significant death toll, it was far from the most horrifying event of the 21st Century.
To my mind it was the Indian Ocean tsunami.
IMHO 9/11 was preventable in the sense that the USA brought on the level of Muslim terrorist hatred by prior attitudes and actions in the middle east, themselves.
As a natural disaster the tsunami was far more horrifying for the suddenness, extreme loss of life and widespread unavoidable damage not to mention lengthy aftermath of rebuilding and grief by hundreds of thsouands of people across many countries.
