I already mentioned I like all of the movies in the series so far in my initial post. but I forgot to mention the general tone of the movies...
you could say the first few were similar in style/tone and the 4th/5th movies drifted a bit more into comedic territory and then 6th/7th were back to a more serious tone.

p.s. I like the addition of Fiona Dourif (Brad Dourif's daughter. he's the guy who voices Chucky) in the 6th/7th movies.
I really liked the first one, no doubt took heavy inspiration from the "Talking Tina" episode of Twilight Zone. The next two sequels were OK, "Bride" was a bit too silly, stopped caring after that.
Based on what you just said... you might like the 6th/7th movies as they are more serious in tone as the 4th/5th movies are a bit more comedic then the rest of the series.
