First one is a fun and actually rather intelligently directed slasher classic. Has elements of psychological horror, in fact, in that for a while it looks like the kid might in fact be the killer.
The second one is a really enjoyable sequel with a fantastic third act.
Child's Play 3 onwards were poor - or at least I thought so.
Haven't seen the newer entries in the series.
