MLB, NBA, and NHL should have a reduced number of games, including the playoffs. Having the first round of the NBA playoffs at 7 games is nothing but a money grab; it offers nothing in terms of interest or upsets.
If the wild card game in baseball was moved up to three games, that would be fine - - but then have the rest of the pre-World Series series at five games.
