Kate asked Stefan to get rid of him, but I don't think Stefan ever said what exactly he did to him. The implication was that he wouldn't ever come back, but we all know in soaps that's never the case. I'm also not sure why Stefan agreed to help Kate. I guess he did it so she'd continue to give him intel on Chad.
