With the exception of ANNIE HALL - 77' and CRIMES AND MISDEMEANORS - 89', I have just pretty much realized that my favourite directed Allen films are the ones that he doesn't appear in—well, for the most part:
INTERIORS - 78'
THE PURPLE ROSE OF CAIRO - 85'
RADIO DAYS - 87' - narration only
BULLETS OVER BROADWAY - 94
SWEET AND LOWDOWN - 99' - brief mock interviewee presence
Perhaps I find Allen's presence can be a bit over-bearing at times, which may have tainted my opinion of his starring works.
