Thirty years or so ago, when It's a Wonderful Life was still in the public domain and, consequently, was shown on any local stations several times a year, some stations would edit Mr. Potter's crack about George Bailey giving loans to a lot of "garlic eaters," bleeping out the last two words. It might have made more sense to leave them in, since Potter was the villain and it would just emphasize his bigotry.
