amyghost I am cable-less so only see what PBS sends me .. have seen Wallender .. dark dark Wallender bless his little heart ! Shetland is good but sometimes requires sub-titles when Tosh is speaking .. or just have to hope that she isn't saying anything really important to the plot. ! George Gently …. yes but want to smack Bacchus so badly ! 
Have never seen House of Cards.. sounds like it's just as well ! You'd love the BBC original, but I suspect your reaction to the Kev Spacey version might be similar to mine.
I am cable-free, too; just PBS and MHz; I live for the times when the latter runs the wonderful 'Maigret' series with Bruno Cremer--about as bloodless as a crime drama can possibly be, with minimal action sequences and totally engrossing to watch.
