I’ve seen a few episodes: one with race cars (and the gas line cut, something like that?), one with a weird alibi having to do with a plague doctor dummy, and one with a secret passageway that solved a locked-room mystery (which, as Carr wrote, is always a cheat). It’s OK. Mark Williams is by far the best part, especially as the supporting cast of screeching busybodies are dreadful. Have you read Chesterton’s original Fr. Brown short stories (which are nothing like the show), OldSamVimes? They’re sublime—possibly the best detective stories ever written.
