Actually the ratio of area to population, especially area that is rich in natural resources, can make life better in a country. The USA is the third largest country in area, a very rich in natural resources area, and yet 179th in population density. That can be a major reason why life is so good here.
Another way to look at it though is to give credit to those countries with a very high population density that nevertheless have a high quality of living. Of course that is most difficult to achieve and few countries with a high population density have it very well. The government of the United States was of course a leader in ending monarchy, in finding a balance between the many and the few. Lately however it is run by the incompetent many and the corrupt few without relief of any kind. It needs plan C.
